As the Safeguarding Lead you will work closely with senior management team and Birmingham community teams and Park House to provide caring, high quality services which improve the lives of people accessing them. The post will report directly to the Quality and Governance Manager and work alongside the current Safeguarding Lead.
You’ll be responsible for supporting the Head of Services and Senior Management Team with the development of safeguarding strategies and inter-agency joint working protocols, ensuring that safeguarding is fully embedded into governance processes across Birmingham services. Working alongside the Quality and Governance Manager and the existing Safeguarding Lead to undertake regular and cyclical audits of all aspects of service delivery. You will work closely with partner organisations to deliver comprehensive reports which will identify and embed learning from serious case reviews across the Birmingham service. You will also act in a consultative way and be available to respond and provide expert support on Safeguarding Issues.
The post will work closely with the senior management team to ensure the service is upholding good governance through policies, procedures and processes and meets all stakeholders’ needs and expectations including legal compliance with regulatory bodies, such as the CQC.
In fulfilling these aims the post holder will keep up to date with development, legislation and practice relevant to the post.
Where: Birmingham
Full Time Hours: 37.5 per week
Full Time Salary Range: £34,700.09 – £39,302.37 dependent on experience, pro rata for part time hours.
Contract: Permanent

Responsibilities
The Role:
As a Safeguarding Lead, you will play a crucial role at the forefront of our services in Birmingham. Your responsibilities will include:
- Prioritise embedding safeguarding practices within the team and volunteers.
- Provide ongoing support and guidance to all staff regarding safeguarding concerns that involve both children and vulnerable adults.
- Collect and analyse information on emerging trends and patterns, sharing insights with senior leadership team, to enable tailored responses at service level.
- Support and lead the team in ensuring that we are transparent in communicating safeguarding matters with those who use our services, ensuring clarity on confidentiality, safeguarding procedures, and ongoing support available.
- Working in collaboration with Social Services, Mental Health Teams, schools and other agencies.
- Ensure that the team are fully updated and work within CGL Safeguarding policies and have completed Safeguarding training.
- Ensure communication is shared appropriately both internally and externally.

About You:
To thrive in this role, we are looking for individuals with experience in:
- Working with families or individuals affected by parental substance misuse.
- Working with local safeguarding teams including attendance at multi agency meetings such as Child Protection Conferences, core groups, strategy meetings and MARAC meetings etc.
- The Mental Health Act and capacity principles when supporting vulnerable adults.
And with the ability to:
- Present information in a range of formats.
- Work under pressure and manage time to meet deadlines as required.
- Maintain professional boundaries with all stakeholders.
- Communicate confidently and effectively, verbally and in writing.
- Work independently and collaboratively within a team environment, demonstrating adaptability and effectiveness in fulfilling responsibilities and achieving collective goals.
