We are an innovative and exciting organisation who INSPIRE young people aged 15-25 across Scotland to realise there potential and we are looking for someone who shares our passion and commitment to achieve this through delivery of vocational programmes themed around motorcycles and mechanics.

 

This is a full time (35hrs per week) role and the successful applicant will have a passion and experience of off-road motorcycle riding and / or mechanics and be able to instil this passion within the young people participating in our programmes.

 

CONTEXT AND PURPOSE OF JOB

 

The motorcycle youth trainer will take responsibility for the delivery and development of vocational programmes primarily themed around motorcyles / mechanics both face to face and online to RUTS participants aged 15-25. You will be responsible for the successful planning and delivery of these programmes which includes facilitating off-road motorcycle sessions, instructing groups of young people who will have no motorcycle riding experience.

 

The main purpose of this post is to:

 

  • Take a leading role in the delivery of vocational programmes primarily themed around motorcycles / mechanics which includes off-road motorcycle sessions and instruction to new and novice riders.
  • Provide learning opportunities for young people through RUTS existing services and supporting the development of a range of services that meets the needs of young people
  • Provide opportunities for young people to reach and sustain a positive destination
  • Deliver other short courses which provide nationally recognised qualifications in various practical skills and personal development

 

There is scope to further develop this post creatively with young people.

 

You must be punctual and able to work on your own initiative as well as part of a wider team. The ideal candidate must have good communication and IT skills.

Essential requirements:

  • Full UK Driving License
  • Experience of off-road Motorcycle Riding and/or Mechanics
  • Membership of the PVG scheme (upon successful appointment)

Main duties and responsibilities:

 

Delivery, outreach, retention and sustainment

  • Responsibility for creating a fun, safe and welcoming learning environment for participants
  • Supporting participants to achieve nationally recognised qualifications and provide pathways to positive destinations
  • Delivering a range of qualifications around the themes of
  • Motorcycles (mechanics and riding)
  • Digital skills
  • Employabilty
  • Boxing/ combat sports/health and fitness
  • Cycling
  • Engage with young people and carry out ongoing needs assessments to identify and remove barriers
  • Supporting young people who may have had adverse childhood experiences (ACES)
  • Contribute to the development of RUTS training and innovative teaching approaches and creating a positive learning environment
  • Effective relationship management with key referral sources and operational staff through regular communication and collaboration.

 

Administration / Other

  • Administration and the management of participant data through both in-house and external databases.
  • Data entry and updates (attendance, progressions and achievement)
  • Communication with key operational staff
  • Adhering to GDPR legislation
  • Use of Microsoft Teams, Zoom and RUTS Learning Management System
  • Take responsibility for the safe use, storage and maintenance of RUTS PPE and delivery equipment
  • Take responsibility for health and safety ensuring that all relevant risk assessments are undertaken, and all operational policies are adhered to.
  • Adhere to all statutory laws and guidance around safeguarding, equality and diversity and the promotion of an inclusive service
