Contract Type Full-time, permanent
Location Glasgow
Salary £33,384 to £38,603 per annum
Grade E
Are you an enthusiastic and experienced campaigns professional with significant experience of leading popular campaigns, which both engage supporters and bring about change? Are you excited by the opportunities of hosting COP26 in Glasgow in November? Do you enjoy working with others but have the inner drive to make this cross-departmental role your own?
The Role
SCIAF has an exciting opportunity to join us as we exploit the opportunities of COP26 to drive up support, reach out to politicians at Holyrood and in Westminster, and join others to bring about real change here in Scotland and across the planet.
The post-holder will take our campaigning to a new level, both in meeting SCIAF’s Influencing objectives and growing our profile with our supporters.
The role will be based in our Glasgow office post lock-down, although a high level of flexibility can be offered in terms of where, when and how this role is undertaken.
Who we’re looking for
We’re seeking a self-starter, happy to work across teams and with a number of outside bodies. You’ll have good communications and digital skills and be happy in front of an audience or talking to MPs, MSPs, etc. As a small team, we are looking for a high-performing individual with initiative and enthusiasm, someone flexible and responsive, who can use creativity and strong problem-solving skills to help us reach our goals.
As an inclusive employer, we want our staff team to reflect the communities in which we live and work. We therefore welcome applications from all sections of the community.
About SCIAF
SCIAF is the official overseas aid and development agency of the Catholic Church in Scotland. Our mission is to enable the poorest to lift themselves out of poverty and work together to protect our common home, help people recover from disaster, and inspire people in Scotland to put their faith into action. SCIAF works in partnership with local and church organisations, supporting communities across Africa, Asia, Latin America and the Middle East, to bring about lasting change. We reach out to those in need, regardless of age, race or religion and believe in supporting the whole person, including their spiritual wellbeing, political voice, cultural and community life.
Safeguarding
The post-holder may travel overseas to less developed parts of the world and may therefore come into contact with children and vulnerable adults. SCIAF undertakes to ensure that all staff, volunteers and relevant others, whose work might involve contact with children, will have completed additional recruitment procedures and have obtained a satisfactory Enhanced PVG Check from Disclosure Scotland. We would also confirm that all staff are expected to adhere to a Code of Conduct, which specifies the attitudes and behaviour that all staff are expected to maintain.
