At Sacpa we recognise and value the importance of continued learning for safeguarding practitioners at all levels. At each of the four levels of the Sacpa Academy programme, key safeguarding topics are introduced and studied in more depth to reinforce the practitioner’s progress and development.
Level 1: Basic – New to safeguarding
Suitable for: safeguarding practitioners at the beginning of their career, as well as those looking to refresh their basic knowledge, skills and understanding.
Webinars and CPD opportunities at this level include a series of introductory sessions covering a range of safeguarding topics: Keeping Children Safe in Education Part 1, Child on Child Abuse Briefing, An Introduction to Contextual Safeguarding, Safer Recruitment for Non-recruiting Staff, The Convergence of Gambling and Gaming, What’s New in Online Gaming, Managing Behaviour and the use of Reasonable Force, Adolescent Development and Risk-Taking Behaviour, Supporting Survivors of Harm.
Level 2: Intermediary – Developing Safeguarding Practice 1
Suitable for: Safeguarding Leads and Safeguarding Deputies, Educational Guardians, and those who have particular roles that contribute to safeguarding such as the Safeguarding Trustee or Governor, SENCO, Pastoral and Mental Health leads.
At this level, safeguarding practitioners can complete the Sacpa Certificate: Developing Safeguarding Practice 1 as well as the Sacpa Certificate: Safer Recruitment. Webinars and CPD opportunities at this level include Learning from Serious Case Reviews, Domestic Abuse and Hidden Harm, Equality Diversity SEND and Safeguarding, Safeguarding in Out of School Clubs, Safeguarding via the Curriculum (Project Evolve Applied), Substance Misuse and Harm Reduction, Affluent Neglect, Cultural Competence, Supporting International Students, and Ensuring Best Practice in Safeguarding Interventions.
Level 3: Advanced – Developing Safeguarding Practice 2
Suitable for: Experienced Safeguarding Leads, Service Managers, School Heads or those coming into the role with high levels of safeguarding knowledge and experience.
At this level, safeguarding practitioners can complete the Sacpa Certificate: Developing Safeguarding Practice 2 which will offer the opportunity to explore the role of the safeguarding leads within safer organisations, multi-agency working with an enhanced focus on specific and contemporary safeguarding concerns and trauma informed practice. Sacpa one day conferences, seminars and bite-size webinars are also relevant at this advanced level.
Level 4: Professional – Certificate in Child Safeguarding Practice Course
Suitable for: Experienced Safeguarding Leads, Service Managers, School Heads or those coming into the role with high levels of safeguarding knowledge and experience.
At this level the Sacpa Advanced Certificate in Child Safeguarding Practice provides development for safeguarding leads to explore beyond intermediate and advanced Safeguarding Lead Training. The course comprises of four study days and is assessed via assignment or portfolio. Delegates who complete this course attain Sacpa recognition for their achievement and positively contribute to improved practice and raising standards within the safeguarding setting.
