We are currently recruiting for a talented Quality Safeguarding Officer who will be able to provide expert safeguarding advice and support across the organisation, enabling our people to provide excellent, safe services to people affected by dementia.

The role of Quality Safeguarding Officer is a national role, working across the whole Society and reporting directly to the Quality Safeguarding Manager. They will need to engage with colleagues at a local and national level across the Society, as well as with key external stakeholders and partners, to influence compliance with safeguarding policies and procedures.

This is a homeworking role, but you will be required to travel to attend some meetings and team-days, so you must reside in the UK, have the correct right to work documents to work in the UK and be comfortable/willing to travel to our flagship offices (London or Birmingham) if/when required.
About you

If you are passionate about working in a team to promote good quality safeguarding practice and to ensure those at risk are safe from harm, we would love to hear from you.

  • Experience of working within a safeguarding framework, an understanding of safeguarding and associated legislation including the Care Act 2014, Mental Capacity Act 2005 and Safeguarding Vulnerable Groups Act 2006, and an ability to relate them to practice.
  • You will need to be confident working on your own initiative as well as part of a geographically dispersed team.
  • You will be confident in risk assessing safeguarding situations and be able to make decisions on managing a safeguarding case from initial contact through to case conclusion to ensure the person at risk is safe from harm.
  • You will have experience or understanding of undertaking quality assurance activity and audit.
  • You should also demonstrate a sound knowledge and understanding of dementia, work in an inclusive way and encourage positivity, optimism and solution-focussed approaches.

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written [essential]
  • Strong interpersonal and interpretation skills will allow you to have open jargon-free conversations with the business.
  • Highly organised and can manage multiple tasks and priorities.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Be a team player, supporting colleagues when there are deadlines, and who knows when to ask for help themselves.
  • Ability to collaboratively, develop strong relationships and influence to ensure effective fit for purpose business solutions.
  • Be a self-starter and incredibly motivated.
