About The Role
The London Borough of Hounslow Youth Offending Service are dedicated to delivering high quality relationship-based interventions, that are child-centred, trauma informed, strengths and evidence-based, outcome-focused, and proportionate.
We are looking for an outstanding team manager who can work to our high standards and share our aspirations for an ‘outstanding’ service and who will lead, inspire, motivate, and support the team to deliver a high-quality youth justice service.
You will have a good understanding of legislation in relation to youth offending, the National Standards and the theories underpinning practice in relation to the YOS. You will have the skills and experience to be able to support the staff team to continue to deliver high quality assessments, planning and focused interventions to prevent offending, safeguarding children and young people, and achieving the best possible outcomes for children, young people and their families. The work of the Team will contribute to reducing the levels of youth offending and re-offending alongside secure remands and custody through the best use of the team and its resources.
In return we will support you to continue to develop your skills and practice through regular supervision, access to a multi-disciplinary Team, training, and wider peer support. You will be a part of the Adolescent Service which includes a dedicated Social Work Team for children at risk of Extra Familial Harm, a Early Help Adolescent Support Team, a Family Group Conference Service and a dedicated LAC prevention and rehabilitation Team, who are part of the wider support services available to children known to the YOS and their families.
Key Responsibilities:
1. To lead, support and develop the Youth Offending Team
2. To ensure the timely delivery of prevention and statutory interventions
3. To work with partners and stakeholders to improve outcomes for children and reduce youth offending.
4. To contribute to the overall goals and targets of the service, the department and wider LA.
Your Skills:
1. A sound knowledge of youth offending legislation and practice.
2. Experience of managing people.
3. The ability to drive, improve and evidence good practice .
4. A good communicator (both written and oral) who can engage with a range of stakeholders and professionals .
Professional Qualifications:
A qualified Social Worker (SWE registered) or equivalent professional/academic qualification (e.g. health, education, youth and community work) relevant to the job profile alongside significant demonstrable experience within the Youth Justice Sector.
