Course outline:

This Safer Recruitment Consortium-accredited training course is the recognised UK standard for safer recruitment, endorsed by the government. In line with statutory guidance, at least one member of every appointment panel for roles involving work with children must complete appropriate safer recruitment training.

Developed by the Safer Recruitment Consortium, this course extends beyond the education sector and is tailored for the wider children’s workforce. It reflects current legislation, learning from serious case reviews, and evolving professional conduct expectations. The course content is informed by the most recent updates to national safer working practice guidance (latest update: February 2022).

Delivered online by an approved Safer Recruitment Consortium trainer, this interactive training includes access to all official participant materials and guidance handbooks.

• The role of safer recruitment in the broader safeguarding context
• Understanding the prevalence of abuse and the profile of abusers
• How abusers seek to operate within organisations
• Key components of a safer recruitment process
• Planning and preparing for safer recruitment
• Interview and selection techniques to support safer decision-making
• Promoting and maintaining high standards of professional behaviour
• Creating and sustaining a culture of vigilance
