Where gambling and online gaming meet
20th June 2025 @ 9:00 AM - 10:00 AM
Course outline:
Recent media reports have highlighted that a student in every secondary class has a gambling issue. Gambling continues to be promoted to children and young adults by some role models despite reported rises in gambling addictions and their mental health impact. The mechanisms used in some games such as loot boxes see a blurred line with gambling, which is also reflected in this session. In the online world, gambling sites play their part in drawing in children and young people and in a recent report The Children’s Commissioner for England commented that ‘We’ll look back in 20 years and be horrified by what our children were exposed to’.
This webinar aims to provide raised awareness of gaming and gambling. Our expert speakers discuss why this safeguarding issue is a growing concern and how to talk to children about this and access help and support.
