Deputy Children’s Home Manager

We are seeking a Deputy Manager to support the registered manager in the day to day and operational management of a small Children’s Home, which provides medium to long-term placements for up to 3 children at any one time.

Location: Leicestershire

Salary: £31,408-£32,469 per annum, plus excellent benefits

Contract: Permanent, full time 40 hours a week. Includes weekends and evenings

About the role:

As Deputy Manager you will work alongside the Registered Manager and will support the Children’s Home ensuring it reflects the ethos of a homely environment and is conducive to the growth and wellbeing of the children who live there. Additionally you will support the Registered Manager in ensuring that statement of purpose is met and adhered to.

The role will be based onsite, the Home is situated near to Leicester City Centre and is easily accessible by public transport.

Key duties and responsibilities will include:

 

  • Implement the Leadership and Management standards to maintain a competent and motivated staff team
  • Lead on ensuring effective service delivery that helps children to fulfil their potential, promotes their welfare and delivers positive outcomes
  • Actively manage and respond to matters of safeguarding and promote the welfare of children
  • Develop and maintain robust administrative processes
  • Support robust partnership working with the wider system of professionals for each child, including families, schools, health professionals and sustaining links with communities of origin

 

About you:

To be successful in the role of Deputy Children’s Home Manager you must have the following skills and experience:

 

  • Minimum Level 3 Diploma for Residential Childcare or equivalent
  • Ability to assess risk and take appropriate action
  • A clear understanding of Safeguarding, The Children’s Homes Regulations 2015 and NICE QS31 Quality Standards for Looked-after children and young people
  • A commitment to promoting equality and diversity
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to work to deadlines and to motivate others to work effectively and demonstrate a duty of care
  • Ability to be able to motivate staff and support them in stressful situations.
