Are you a qualified Social Worker with at least 4 years post-qualification experience looking for the next step in your career? If so, join Rhodes Wood Hospital as the Designated Safeguarding Lead and become an integral part of the team.

You will be responsible for accessing the social care needs of young people and be a principal provider of a quality social work service to assess those needs as outlined in patient care plans. This will involve working with young people who have complex mental health needs and psychological needs.

As an experienced Social Worker, you will bring your knowledge of social policy and expertise in social work practice ensuring and maintaining a quality social work service to service users and their families.

You will also be responsible for the management and supervision of social work staff and take a lead in developing and managing the social work department.

As a Designated Safeguarding Lead, you will be:

  • Contributing towards completion of service users CPA documents providing comprehensive assessment reports when required.
  • When it is part of an agreed care plan, to complete focussed work with individual young people using a range of interventions.
  • Maintaining contact with young people’s families, carers and/or significant others offering support, information and where relevant to the care plan joint family and patient sessions which are enabling.
  • Taking a leading role in promoting anti-discriminatory practice in a way that links the young person’s individual circumstances to the broader, social, political, legal and cultural context (with relevance to care plan).
  • In conjunction with the responsible Social Services Department or integrated NHS assist in the assessment of suitable after care placement working across professional boundaries.
  • Maintaining accurate and up to date records of their social work inputs to the care plan including Section 117 care planning and transfer summaries, which reflect the patient’s views.

  • Responsible for the day-to-day administration of annual leave and sickness within the social work department.
To be successful in this role you will:
  • Be qualified Social Worker who holds registration with Social Work England
  • Have minimum of 4 years post qualification experience
  • Have experience working within a forensic or eating disorder setting

Where you will be working:

Location: Rhodes Wood Hospital. Shepherds Way, Hatfield AL9 6NN

You will be working at Rhodes Wood Hospital, a specialist Inpatient Eating Disorder service for children and young people aged 8-18 years. Situated in Hatfield, Hertfordshire. All children and young people have their own en suite bedrooms. The services emphasise not only the mental wellbeing of young people but also their educational, emotional and physical needs.
