Sense is recruiting for a Head of Inclusion and Wellbeing to join our fantastic People Team in Selly Oak, Birmingham on a hybrid basis. This is an exciting new opportunity for a talented and ambitious individual to come on board and help take Sense to the next level in developing an inclusive workforce and leadership across our organisation.

We are looking for someone who can set and implement the strategic direction for Sense, provide insight and affect change, acting as the EDI ambassador for the organisation. You will be both strategic and hands-on; providing firm leadership and be fearless in driving change but also collaborative with others, working with a number of different stakeholders. You will feel confident in challenging others and at the same time maintain positive relationships across the organisation and celebrate our achievements.

The main duties and responsibilities include:

  • Develop and deliver the Equality, Diversity & Inclusion and wellbeing strategies within the framework of relevant legislation and best practice.
  • Lead on the strategy implementation across the organisation, influencing and involving people throughout Sense, including the Executive team, building strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to maximise engagement.
  • Provide both support and specialist advice to the Director of People and the Chief Executive in the strategic delivery of key organisational initiatives.
  • Create pioneering campaigns and work with our communications teams to deliver exceptional content and awareness events, showcasing our inclusive culture and promoting a sense of belonging for our employees.
  • Champion our EDI Board and grow our existing employee networks, providing support and guidance to network Chairs.
  • Partner with external organisations and promote us as an employer of choice.
  • Report on how we are performing against indicators from qualitative and quantitative data, employee feedback and external standards using this information to shape changes.
  • Work with the Head of Talent Acquisition, promoting our inclusive culture and ensuring our employer brand attracts a diverse range of candidates; build an accessible recruitment process; debias our selection process and develop talent pools of under-represented groups.
  • Work with the Head of Project Planning and Implementation in proactively ensuring inclusion and wellbeing are included in every project and programme, aligning with the people we support.
  • Encourage engagement with development schemes and learning opportunities.
  • Be responsible for third party EDI partnerships

To succeed in this role, you will have:

  • Proven experience as a leader in Equality, Diversity & Inclusion and wellbeing.
  • Demonstrable experience of leading a high performing team.
  • A successful and inspiring influencer with exceptional communication skills.
  • Data management, analysis and reporting experience.
  • Evidence of own continuing professional development.
  • A commitment to children and adults with complex disabilities, including deafblindness, and Sense’s vision and values; a willingness to learn how to communicate with people with complex disabilities and identify the barriers to their participation in all aspects of Sense’s work.
