The Children’s Society is a national charity working to transform the hopes and happiness of young people experiencing low well-being, who maybe facing abuse, exploitation and neglect. We support them through their most serious life challenges, and we campaign tirelessly for the big social changes that will improve the lives of those who need hope most. We’ve been doing this for 140 years, and we won’t stop until we’ve built a society where hope is alive in every child.
We fight for hope by deeply understanding the needs of young people, and by supporting them through their most serious life challenges. We work with young people who have suffered years of abuse, who have run away from home, or are struggling with mental health issues. We look out for young carers and those who are at risk of being groomed. We help refugees who have no-one else to turn to in this country.
The Children’s Society (TCS) is at an exciting stage of its journey, with new strategic objectives and renewed commitment to reverse the damaging decline in children’s wellbeing. We are now seeking a collaborative and driven leader to oversee corporate safeguarding across the organsiation, and to drive our quality practice – embedding youth voice.
Who we are looking for
We are looking for somebody who is a qualified and registered Social Worker. Someone with significant leadership experience in a person-centred and values-driven social care environment, used to managing complex safeguarding within the charity sector, and developing youth practice service delivery.
You will be an exceptional people leader, able to empower staff, collaborate across the organisation and build strong external networks and relationships for the benefit of TCS’s work.
Above all else, you will demonstrate a commitment to amplifying young people’s voices and have the passion and motivation to make a genuine difference in young people’s lives, whilst working to keep them safe from harm.
This is a great time to join us and lead a dynamic and committed team to take The Children’s Society’s work nationally, to the next level.
The Children’s Society is committed to safeguarding and protecting the children and young people that we work with. As such, all posts are subject to a safer recruitment process, including the disclosure of criminal records and vetting checks. We ensure that we have a range of policies and procedures in place which promote safeguarding and safer working practices across our services.
Therefore, candidates applying for work in our Youth Impact Domain will be required to complete an “Employment history_template” document prior to interview.
