We are looking for a highly experienced, confident and organised professional to lead and manage, as Diocesan Safeguarding Officer (DSO), our safeguarding function and team.
Through the implementation of newly agreed plans in each of our regional Deaneries, the Diocese is, like the Church of England, undergoing a period of transformational change. The need to retain and develop our safeguarding practices and processes at the heart of these changes is key. To do this you will be approachable and adept at communicating sensitively and professionally with people at all levels and from all walks of life, including parish members, staff, clergy and volunteers. At the same time, you will have the gravitas and professionalism necessary to inspire confidence in others, and to achieve results.
You will lead a small team, and work closely with the Diocese of Exeter, the Church of England National Safeguarding Team, and with Truro Cathedral for whom we provide safeguarding services.
You do not need to be a practising Christian; more importantly, you will have the necessary transferable skills and values to grow and develop in a complex and challenging, but undoubtedly rewarding, work environment. The role requires experience of people management, casework and working with a range of partners in a safeguarding context.
At the Diocese of Truro, we really value work-life balance and employee wellbeing, have a friendly and supportive working environment and are committed to encouraging your development. We offer benefits to such as a range of wellbeing activities, flexible working, up to 26 days leave and a Pension Scheme with 9-15% employer contribution.
We welcome applications from all suitably qualified persons. However, we would particularly welcome applications from those with a disability, or from a UK minority ethnic background, as these groups are currently under-represented in our staff.

Sorry, we do not accept CVs.
