Full Job Description
About Us
British Canoeing is the UK Governing Body for Paddlesports. We have had many advances in our sport and canoeing now covers a wide range of interests and passions as a sport and a leisure activity for all. We want to support and provide opportunities for everyone to enjoy and realise their potential within all aspects of canoeing regardless of their age, background or ability.
The Role
This is an exciting opportunity to join a fast paced, dynamic NGB at a time where Safeguarding and Welfare are increasingly being recognised as a critical part of sports participation and success. You will be joining a small, energetic team, whose dedication and passion for ensuring the welfare, safety and inclusion of all those involved with paddlesports is second to none. You will work hard, but you will be supported and highly valued.
Safeguarding everyone involved in our sport is a hugely important part of the work of British Canoeing and ensuring safe recruitment practices and the appropriate management of safeguarding concerns is vital. The Governance team is pleased to be expanding with the creation of a new Safeguarding Case Officer role. The successful candidate will be responsible for the efficient and effective case management of safeguarding cases and disclosure checks.
This role will involve working with a range of stakeholders, including the British Canoeing Safeguarding Case Management Group, the Child Protection in Sport Unit of the NSPCC, statutory agencies and colleagues as well as a wide network of volunteers, coaches, leaders and members.
The successful candidate should be experienced in safeguarding case management and have a clear understanding of working together to safeguarding children and adults at risk. The role requires excellent organisation and communication skills, the ability to prioritise and manage a changing workload and an ability to relate well to people from all walks of life. Experience of working in sport is desirable but not essential.
This role is based at the British Canoeing offices at National Water Sports Centre in the Holme Pierrepont Country Park. We are currently exploring how hybrid working can benefit the organisation so we would expect a minimum of 2 days in the office with flexibility around days being essential.
Full details of the role and British Canoeing can be found in our Job Pack.
Working Pattern: Full time – 37 hours over 5 days.
Closing Date: 10th August 2022
