About the role
We have an exciting opportunity for a desk-based, Safeguarding and Domestic Abuse officer to join our safe neighbourhoods and support service based in Oldham, on a 12-month Fixed Term Contract.

We currently operate a hybrid working style where you’ll work 2 days per week from our Bower House Oldham office and the remaining 3 days from home / remotely.

You will manage and investigate a caseload of Safeguarding and Domestic Abuse reports covering a national geographical area and the role will manage issues around safety, risk, and safety planning within the remit of the housing sector. This will involve early intervention remedies, multi- agency working and risk assessing. The successful candidate will have an excellent understanding of safeguarding and domestic abuse principles and legislation.

The successful candidate needs excellent customer service and communication skills, be able to make decisions in line with legislation and work well under pressure.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage a volume of routine and complex cases.
  • To carry out thorough and effective investigations into reports of Safeguarding and Domestic Abuse
  • To adopt a person-centred approach when investigating Safeguarding and Domestic Abuse
  • Identify vulnerability at the earliest opportunities.
  • Provide high level of customer service in line with Guinness’s Customer Service Standards.
  • Take ownership of allocated cases in accordance with Guinness’s policies and procedures.
  • Complete risk assessments and take any action required to mitigate risk.
  • Liaise with stakeholders and external partner agencies to co-ordinate safeguarding and domestic abuse responses.
  • Skills and Experience – excellent communication skill, effective at case management, negotiation skills, none judgemental approach, an excellent understanding of safeguarding and domestic abuse.

We’re looking for someone with:

  • Good knowledge of relevant legislation and current best practice – such as Domestic Abuse Act 2021, Care Act 2014, and the Children’s Act 1989.
  • Good attention to detail, maintaining accurate records within agreed service levels and targets.
  • Ability to prioritise to meet changing demands.
  • Proven problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Resilience and an ability to deal with challenging situations and deliver sustainable outcomes
  • Self-motivation with the ability to plan and work effectively within a high level of supervision.
  • Excellent oral and written communications
  • Ability to demonstrate Guinness behavioural competencies.
  • Proven experience of working in a social housing or relevant agencies.
  • Proven experience of building relationships with external agencies.
  • Experience of compiling reports
