The Premier League’s Legal Team is looking for a Safeguarding Manager who will play a crucial role in supporting our efforts to foster and sustain a safe environment and culture. The right candidate will be a passionate safeguarding professional committed to maintaining the highest standards of care and protection for children and adults at risk. They will be instrumental in our ongoing work to embed a culture where safeguarding is recognised and delivered as a shared responsibility across all areas of our work.

We have a wide variety of responsibilities. These include organising the competition and its Handbook as well as managing the centralised broadcast and commercial rights. The work we do in conjunction with the Clubs also goes far beyond the 90 minutes. We support and provide a framework for youth development, we protect the organisation’s intellectual property, support the wider game and community programmes, undertake international development work and liaise with governing bodies and other leagues.

Our hybrid-working model also allows you some variety on your place of work, offering you the chance to work from home on some days each week. Where possible, you will attend the office or site visits in line with our company policy. All staff liaise closely with their line manager to manage their time appropriately and according to their work and team requirements.
The role
Provide safeguarding support and advice to stakeholders Raise safeguarding awareness and promote safer working practises Deliver against assigned workstreams to meet our strategic safeguarding objectives Proactively identify safeguarding risks to individuals and the business Embed effective safeguarding measures in the planning and delivery of domestic and international events Support the implementation of our safer recruitment and onboarding procedures Support the implementation of our procurement safeguarding due diligence procedures Support the implementation of our safeguarding quality assurance procedures Support with providing direction to our network of Safeguarding Champions ensuring they are supported and empowered to fulfil their responsibilities Lead the response to allocated safeguarding concerns Support the review of safeguarding procedures and practices to ensure their ongoing effectiveness and to embed a culture of continual learning and improvement Carry out other duties as may reasonably be required from time to time
Requirements for the role:
- A professional background in safeguarding
- Extensive experience in safeguarding case management
- Extensive experience in implementing effective safeguarding practices
- Experience identifying and assessing risk and evaluating the effectiveness of control measures
- High level of integrity with experience in handling sensitive information with discretion
- Empathy and resilience in handling sensitive and challenging issues
- Excellent interpersonal and relationship management skills
- Excellent planning and organisational skills to deliver against diverse workstreams
- Ability to work flexibly and effectively to manage changing priorities
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office and first-class administrative skills
