The main role of the Duty and Assessment Social worker is to undertake Care and Well-being assessments and Section 47 Child protection investigations. The role requires you to be part of a duty rota. The team is very supportive and work very reflectively and openly together. Everyone values formal and informal supervision on cases where ideas and knowledge can be shared.
About you:
Any SW applying for a post in the assessment team will need the skill to support families in finding solutions to any presenting need or risk towards a child. Being able to facilitate family network meetings and use strength-based questions to elicit ways to manage or reduce risks.
What you will do:
The main role of the Duty and Assessment Social worker is to undertake Care and Well-being assessments and Section 47 Child protection investigations. You will work closely with partner agencies where god relationships have already been developed and the teams works very well with colleagues in Police, health and education. The team use Safety Planning with families who are empowered to seek solutions to situations where a child could be deemed in need or at risk. Our ethos is to empower families and, where needed, seek the resources and services to meet their child’s needs. We have monthly team meetings but also regular catch up sessions as a team.
